Data only in Exchange for Data Protection Declaration

Data only in Exchange for Data Protection Declaration

Anna Steinacher

The magazine ‘future’ asked a graduate of the St. Pölten UAS how concerned she is with the protection of her personal data, what she does to guard them, and how liberal she (sometimes) is with them.

Dealing with data and (liberal) handling of personal data:

I used to be very liberal with my data and frequently provided my e-mail address without giving a thought to how it would be used and what would happen with my data afterwards. It was only when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force and our agency DDM subsequently became compliant with it that I developed an awareness for the actual value of my personal data. Since then I have attached great importance to the protection of my own data as well as those of our customers.

Protection of personal data:

To use a service, I provide only the absolutely necessary data. When it comes to companies that do not comply with simple provisions of the GDPR, do not have a privacy statement on their website, etc., I’m very reluctant to provide any personal data.
