The course curriculum teaches professional-methodological, social-communicative and self competences in the field of dietetics as well as professional practical training.
Nature and law of the profession
Professional methodological competences
- Methodology in nutritional therapy and applied clinical dietetics: gastroenterology, allergology, endocrinology, diabetology, cardiology, surgery, neurology, nephrology, intensive care, oncology, geriatric, paediatrics, interpretation of findings, pharmacology, meal planning, calculations of energy and nutritional value, quality assurance in nutritional therapy
Social and communicative competences
- Advice and communication: argumentation and conflict management in the professional field, coaching in nutritional medical advising, practical exercises in the Usability Laboratory, counselling, conversational skills in diabetics training.
Practical training in catering management, clinical practical training and in-house practical training. Accompanying practical seminars to deepen the acquired knowledge of the practical training.
Courses take place in blocks at the St. Pölten UAS. Altogether there are 10 blocks. Exams are held at the beginning of blocks. Practical training mainly takes place at medical institutions and covers the areas of acute care, long-term medicine, and rehabilitation.
