Ilse Arlt Institute for Social Inclusion Research

The Ilse Arlt Institute for Social Inclusion Research at the St Pölten UAS focuses and organizes the research and development activities connected with the courses of the Department of Social Science. It builds on a tradition of more than 30 years of research on social work at the site.

The choice of the name Ilse Arlt is intended to symbolize a connection to the classical Austrian tradition of social work driven by research. Ilse Arlt represents an understanding of social work that focuses on society’s structures to help people who are marginalized and that considers social work as a duty to society, while recognizing that particular methods need to be applied to individual cases.
