Health promotion, early diagnosis and prevention are the most effective and economical measures to counter the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, with a view to ensuring healthy, independent and active ageing. The Institute of Health Sciences develops interdisciplinary health promotion and disease prevention programmes for target groups of all ages, which accompany and support lasting lifestyle changes.
Clinical and healthcare research
The institute conducts research, evaluation and development work aimed at improving dietetic, nursing and physiotherapy practice. Evaluations that assess the efficacy of both newly developed and established assessments, interventions, diagnostic and therapeutic devices and care concepts are an essential component of research activities (evidence-based practice). In addition, the institute develops innovative technology-based solutions for therapy, care and rehabilitation.
Education and lifelong learning for health professionals
In order to ensure that students are ideally equipped to handle challenges in their professional lives and support professionals’ lifelong learning, the Institute of Health Sciences designs and evaluates high-quality, technology-based training and development solutions for the healthcare professions.
