As important confidants, individuals in the social-integrative field of out-of-school youth work are frequently confronted with health-related issues in their everyday work, particularly with regard to nutrition. The certificate course teaches the basic concepts of an appropriate nutrition-oriented diet as well as nutrition competencies for out-of-school youth work. Through the initiation and accompanying implementation of specific projects, the practice transfer of teaching contents is ensured.
Through the certificate course, students acquire the following qualifications:
- They deal with selected nutrition topics relevant to the field of out-of-school youth work. With the acquired methods and techniques of psychosocial health promotion, the nutrition competence of young people is strengthened.
- The acquisition of interdisciplinary ways of thinking and acting is promoted through the different occupational or academic backgrounds of the students and lecturers from various scientific and practical fields.
- The certificate course enables the students to put the acquired competencies into practice. Students can plan and implement small nutritional projects in out-of-school youth work.

Duration and extent
The certificate course is designed as extra-occupational further education, lasts one semester and is comprised of 8 ECTS. In-class teaching takes place in blocks.
