Students from the Vienna University of Technology, Joanneum UAS, Upper Austria UAS and St. Pölten UAS were able to participate with ideas on the future of information and communications technology.

The top ten won a two-week educational trip to China and will visit Huawei's Shenzhen headquarters. Three St. Pölten UAS students are among the winners.

Award ceremony in Vienna City Hall

This week, Pan Yao, Managing Director of Huawei Austria, and Vienna Mayor Dr. Michael Ludwig presented the award certificates to the winners of the competition, including from St. Pölten UAS: Nicole Gugerel (Information Security Studies), Marlene Gutscher (Media and Communications Consulting) and David Schwarz (Smart Engineering).

China trip with cultural and professional highlights

In order to take part in the programme, an essay had to be composed on a question from Huawei concerning innovation and technology. This year, participants dealt with topics such as cyber security, smart city or 5G-technology.

The two-week trip to China will take place in September 2018. During their stay, students can look forward to an engaging programme including: a visit to specialist departments at the Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen as well as tutorials and ICT-trainings on subjects such as 5G, mobile-internet application or cloud systems. The trip will be rounded off with cultural highlights such as a visit to the Great Wall of China, a five-day Chinese language course at Peking University or a calligraphy workshop.
