The Institute of Health Sciences brings together the core competences in courses offered by the Department of Health Sciences – dietetics, digital healthcare, healthcare and nursing, and physiotherapy – in three complementary and interdisciplinary research topics:
- Health promotion & healthy ageing
- Clinical and healthcare research
- Education and lifelong learning for health professionals
The Institute of Health Sciences is a founder member of the CARMA competence centre, which develops digital healthcare solutions designed to improve personal health and support the work of health professionals.
The institute cooperates with over 100 regional, national and international research partners from science, industry and the healthcare sector. It works closely with the university’s Rail Technology & Mobility, Computer Science & Security, Media and Digital Technologies, Media and Economics and Social Sciences departments.
In addition, the institute offers its expertise as a service in the form of commissioned research, and for the independent evaluation of health promotion projects, interventions and therapy methods.
