The Institute of Health Sciences combines the core competencies in courses offered by the Department of Health Sciences in dietetics, digital healthcare, healthcare and nursing and physiotherapy into three complementary interdisciplinary research areas:

- Clinical & Healthcare Research
- Education & Lifelong Learning for Health Professionals
The Institute of Health Sciences is a founding member of the competence centre CARMA, where digital healthcare solutions are being developed to improve individual health and support the work of health professionals.
The Institute of Health Sciences cooperates regionally, nationally and internationally with over 100 research partners from science, economy and the healthcare sector. It works together intensively at St. Pölten UAS with the departments of: Rail Technology & Mobility, Computer Science & Security, Media & Digital Technologies, Media & Economics and the Department of Social Sciences.
The Institute of Health Sciences also offers its expertise as a service in the form of commissioned research and for the independent evaluation of health promotion projects, interventions and therapy methods.
