Research Events: Behind the Scenes of Science

European Researchers’ Night and Forschungsfest Niederösterreich

Researchers of the St. Pölten UAS offered glimpses behind the scenes of science at their institution and took the visitors of two research events on a fascinating tour of the research world: Within the framework of the Forschungsfest Niederösterreich (Lower Austrian Research Festival) at the Palais Niederösterreich in Vienna and the European Researchers’ Night under the motto “Life Is Science in a Digital World“ in Graz.

European Researchers‘ Night: Programme in Graz

In the Joanneumsviertel in Graz, the visitors experienced an exhibition area with interactive stations.
The St. Pölten UAS contributed many interesting programme items such as:

  • Augmented Reality in the industry
  • Circular economy and sustainability
  • Data analysis with eyes and ears
  • The European University network E³UDRES²

These were complemented by lectures and further agenda items including the “Pop-Up Planetarium”.
At the Science Slam in the evening, researchers presented their projects in an entertaining manner and the audience had the opportunity to choose the best performance.

Just like last year, the interactive event for guests of all age groups was hosted collaboratively by the St. Pölten UAS and acib GmbH once more. The main programme took place in St. Pölten in 2022, and in Graz in 2023.

Workshops for School Classes

Within the framework of the European Researchers‘ Night, exciting workshops were held for school classes in St. Pölten, Krems, and Graz on topics such as “preventing food waste”, “emergency scenario: heart attack”, and “exposing the online fitness trend #fitspiration”.

School classes who missed this opportunity but are interested to learn more can attend further workshops on research topics in Lower Austria and Graz throughout the ongoing semester:

Forschungsfest Niederösterreich

The Forschungsfest NÖ was organised by the Province of Lower Austria (administrative division for Science and Research). At the Palais Niederösterreich in Vienna, visitors were able to experience current projects and interesting facts about science and research in Lower Austria in many interactive stations free of charge.

Children, adolescents, and adults entered into direct contact with scientists, asked questions, discovered new things, and tried their hand at experiments.

Research and Studying at the St. Pölten UAS

At the St. Pölten UAS, scientists conduct research in six institutes and several centres. Interdisciplinary research holds a special place as the different disciplines are more and more closely connected through the combination of the individual institutes’ expertise.

Students of the St. Pölten UAS frequently get to collaborate in research projects and stay up to date when it comes to scientific developments.
