On Thursday evening, the Federal Ministry for Climate Action awarded its State Prizes for Mobility (Mobilitätsstaatspreise) once again.

Alexandra Anderluh from the Carl Ritter von Ghega Institute for Integrated Mobility Research at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences took second place in the category “Zukunftspreis Mobilität” for her dissertation on the topic of reducing CO2 emissions in urban supply chains.

Emission-Free Vehicles for Supply Chains

The Zukunftspreis Mobilität within the framework of the State Prizes for Mobility is awarded to graduates of universities (of applied sciences) to honour dissertations and bachelor or master theses that convince with new approaches.

In her dissertation on the topic “Single- and Multi-Objective Optimization Problems in Urban Two-Echelon Networks”, Anderluh explores optimisation models for integrating emission-free vehicles into urban supply chains. To this end, Anderluh examined optimisation models for specific distribution problems in urban logistics with special consideration for sustainability criteria.

Urbanisation, Traffic, Environment, Climate

“The advancing urbanisation and the fast-growing e-commerce sector result in increasing freight volumes, especially in urban areas. While the greater availability of goods does lead to a higher standard of living, the accompanying traffic compromises our environment, climate, health, and quality of life”, explains Anderluh.

Since 2020, Anderluh has been conducting research at the Carl Ritter von Ghega Institute for Integrated Mobility Research of the St. Pölten UAS where she coordinates the focus area Mobility 4.0. The economic graduate wrote her dissertation at the Institute for Transport and Logistics Management of WU Wien where she also engaged in research.

“With Alexandra Anderluh, we have found a researcher who is an enrichment for our interdisciplinary research groups in many ways. The fact that she has now won this State Prize goes to show once more what an excellent scientist and pioneer of her discipline we have in our team. It goes without saying that we strive to offer her the best possible framework conditions for her important work”, says Hannes Raffaseder, Chief Research and Innovation Officer of the St. Pölten UAS.

State Prize for Mobility

The Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology (BMK) awards the State Prize for Mobility 2021 for mobility innovations that pave the way for climate neutrality in Austria by 2040 and promotes visions for becoming a pioneer in climate protection.
