1. Full Exchange Semester

Whether it’s during your bachelor’s or your master’s – spending a semester at a university abroad is possible without losing any time on your study progress.

Your options:

  • Partner university: Select one of our 160 partner universities in 35 countries and benefit from one of the exchange programmes:
    • Erasmus+: You stay in EU member states and further selected countries.
    • Joint Study: You study at international partner universities outside of the Erasmus+ area.
  • Free Mover: You organise and finance your stay at non-partner universities by yourself.

What students share about their semesters abroad

Two-part image. Left side: Four people stand on a suspension bridge surrounded by lush green mountains under a partly cloudy sky in México. Right side: Text reads 'Exchange Semester in México: It was one of the best times of my life so far.' with colourful wave graphics and the names Anna Gielesberger and Fabian Maurer.

Fabian tells us about his exchange semester in Guadalajara, Mexico: “Understanding another culture enormously broadens your horizon. This is something you only understand, once you are back at home. You have become a more open-minded person. There is nothing that I can recommend you more than doing a semester abroad once in your lifetime.”

  • Additional virtual exchange component
  • Application necessary
  • Each year, students can choose from around 20 BIPs – these are held either at the St. Pölten UAS or at partner universities.

4. Benefit from the Window of Opportunity

The Window of Opportunity (WoOp) is an elective of 5 ECTS credits that is embedded in the curriculum. You can complete these credits flexibly across several semesters by taking smaller courses of at least 1 ECTS credit. You can also opt for courses of our partner universities within the European University Alliance E³UDRES².

This enables you to expand your personal profile, adopt international perspectives and gain additional, interdisciplinary competencies.

What’s in for you?

  • Adopt an individualised approach to your studies: Select content you are genuinely interested in.
  • Build international connections: Meet students from other countries.
  • Gain interdisciplinary competencies: Hone strong skills to make you stand out on the global job market.

The WoOp is a great opportunity to make your studies more flexible and future-proof – a perfect opportunity to gain international experiences and proactively shape your studies.
