As a student of the St. Pölten UAS, you can also complete your professional internship abroad. If you complete an internship of at least 2 months in a company or organisation in an EU member state or in Liechtenstein, Northern Macedonia, Norway, Iceland, Serbia, or Turkey, you can apply for an Erasmus grant (Student Mobility for Traineeships, SMT) at the UAS service unit International Relations. In the UK, Erasmus+ stays are eligible until 31/05/2023 within the “old” Erasmus programme. Only internships at Austrian institutions abroad and at institutions of the European Union as well as at organisations managing EU programmes are excluded.

The Erasmus SMT grant is available for internships abroad which last between 2 and 12 months. Both compulsory internships according to the curriculum and voluntary, academically relevant internships are eligible.

The application for an Erasmus SMT grant must be submitted to the UAS service unit International Relations at least four weeks before the start of the internship. Please note that the relevant forms must be completed and signed by the respective department. Point of contact: UAS service unit International Relations.

Information and documents on Erasmus SMT, how to apply, grant amounts, and priorities in awarding can be found on the eCampus under Internship Abroad.

Students of the study programmes Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and Social Work have the following two options to complete an internship abroad:

Internship Abroad via a Partner University in Europe

The internship can either be embedded in a study abroad programme at a partner university or be a regular internship abroad with supervision from the partner university. The registration for such a semester abroad takes place in-house, and strict application deadlines apply (see Outgoing Students). Depending on the duration of the internship period itself, the internship can either be organised as a Student Mobility for Studies (SMS) or a Student Mobility for Traineeships (SMT).

It is recommended to contact the partner university 6 months before the start of the planned internship abroad in order to receive help in finding a suitable internship position.

The contact person is the international coordinator of your study programme.

Vocational Internship Only

The weekly hours required according to the curriculum in the internship semester are completed in a blocked manner at the St. Pölten UAS upon agreement with the Academic Director. The choice of the internship provider is not bound to a university, but assistance may be offered by one of our partner universities (see information above).

Graduate Internship

Students who recently graduated can follow up their degree with an internship abroad and receive an Erasmus SMT grant for this period, given it lasts between 2 and 12 months. This applies to internships in EU member states and in the following countries: Liechtenstein, Northern Macedonia, Norway, Iceland, Serbia, and Turkey. In the UK, Erasmus+ stays are eligible until 31/05/2023 within the “old” Erasmus programme.

Graduates may not be enrolled at any higher education institution for the duration of the internship. The graduate internship must be completed within 12 months of graduation. The application for the Erasmus SMT grant must take place while still studying, at the latest four weeks before graduation. For further information about the application process, please contact the UAS service unit International Relations.

Information and documents on Erasmus SMT, how to apply, grant amounts, and priorities in awarding can be found on the eCampus under Internship Abroad.

Erasmus Grant

Students and graduates who wish to apply for an Erasmus+ grant can find the necessary information on the eCampus and under Grants. The monthly grant amount varies depending on the host country.

Students with fewer opportunities may receive an additional monthly grant.

A one-time grant is provided for the use of environmentally friendly transportation.

Online Linguistic Support (OLS)

The Online Linguistic Support within the Erasmus+ programme aims to help participants of Erasmus+ mobilities to acquire language skills. Students who study or do an internship abroad in a foreign language must complete a mandatory language assessment shortly before the start of their stay. In addition, students have the opportunity to take interactive online language courses to improve their language skills before and during their stay abroad.
