Values, theory and practice

The profession of social work engages individuals, groups and communities to address issues concerning challenges that people are facing in their everyday lives as well as their social networks.

It intervenes with guidance and support measures where social changes are necessary at the points where people interact with their environments. The academic work connected with the programme generates practical insights, tools and techniques by applying the latest methods of empirical social research.

Practical experience through project work

Students collaborate on projects which require them to work on the development and implementation of real-world concepts, taking a theory-led approach. The projects are usually conducted in cooperation with partner organisations and can be interdisciplinary in nature. Experienced social workers are on hand to provide students with the support they need.
