Coding is Female
Creative Coding School
Computer science and digitalisation are becoming increasingly female. We want to pick up on and further intensify this trend by showing girls and young women that programming is exciting and fun.
We would like to encourage young women to choose careers in the STEM sector. There is still a lack of women in these fields and the job prospects are very good.
Our goal is to combat gender stereotypes – after all, engineers are in great demand!
For school pupils
Workshops for school classes
There are a number of school workshops, many of them in the STEM disciplines.
FIT infodays and fair
At the FIT information fair, girls in particular can obtain information on technical study programmes. In addition, the three FIT infodays are an opportunity to dig deeper into this topic with workshops, lectures and lab exercises. What is more, there are students on site to answer questions pertaining to their study programmes and to share their impressions. Prospective employers seize this opportunity to talk to interested young people as well.
- Next date: FIT infodays 2023 are expected to take place at the end of January.
For students
Coding Warm-Up
You have no experience in HTML/CSS programming yet but would like to learn more? All our students are free to participate in the “Programming” bridging course.
Via the CIS (additional teaching offer “Coding Warm-Up”), interested students can sign up for the Coding Warm-Up which takes place every summer semester. Have fun!
Activity as FIT ambassador
Role models wanted! The initiative “Frauen in die Technik“ (women in engineering, FIT) is searching for female students and graduates of the STEM disciplines looking to work as ambassadors. The next call will likely take place next summer.

In order to give girls and young women an enthusiasm for technology and computer science as well as study programmes and careers in these fields, it is essential to offer this target group an opportunity to gain their own positive experiences in the STEM sector and to meet their role models in person.

My message to secondary school graduates: experiment with your interests! Do not be afraid to make mistakes – every “mistake” is actually another life experience and an opportunity to get to know yourself better. Follow your heart! Stay curious and never let anyone tell you that there are things you do not understand!
Whom we want to reach
Our offer is aimed primarily at everyone who understands themself as female. As for all who have the feeling: “I’m comfortable with this group and I want to be part of it.” – you are just as welcome, regardless of the sex indicated in your passport or elsewhere. Nobody is going to comment on this.
We as the St. Pölten UAS are aware of the fact that gender identity is not always binary and not always as it would outwardly appear.
We generally set great store by making our campus a tolerant, inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter where they come from. It is a place for you to try out new things regardless of whether you have prior experience or are (still) completed clueless.
