Ewald Volk, member of the Supervisory Board and Chairperson of the Works Council at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences as well as UAS lecturer and head of the Campus & City Radio, has been awarded the prestigious Grand Decoration of Honour for Services to the Province of Lower Austria.

The distinction awarded by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner honours Ewald Volk’s extraordinary services of behalf of and long-time commitment to the media industry.

Successful and Sustainable Work in the Media Industry

Originally from Southern Burgenland, Ewald Volk initially worked for the Austrian Institute of Economic Research before leaving for the practical realm and becoming first Federal Commissioner for the Waldviertel region and later EU Regional Manager. Ewald Volk achieved pioneer status in the establishment of private media enterprises in Lower Austria. As the founder of Radio Waldviertel and CEO of various private radio stations in Austria, he actively shaped the Austrian media landscape. He continues to put his extensive experience and know-how to use in various specialist bodies of the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber.

Positive Impulses for the St. Pölten UAS

Ewald Volk has been active at the UAS since 2011. Between 2013 and 2020, he was Academic Director of the bachelor degree programme Media Management where he significantly contributed to the development and positioning of this programme. As a UAS lecturer, he continues to pass his expertise from the media industry on to the students.
