Thomas Brandstetter, lecturer at the Department of Computer Science & Security of the St. Pölten UAS, will hold the final keynote referred to as "Locknote" at this year’s Black Hat Europe 2021 which takes place from 10 to 11 November.

The Black Hat is the most well-known and renowned series of conferences in the international security community and was launched in Las Vegas more than 20 years ago. Since then, it has branched off to form the Black Hat Europe in London and the Black Hat Asia in Singapore.
Due to his position as a member of the Black Hat’s Review Board, Thomas Brandstetter will hold the Locknote together with other international security experts from various sectors.

Students benefit from our experts

“My position as a member of the Review Board of the Black Hat is definitely the most interesting honorary office in the field of security that I’ve had the honour to hold so far. At the Black Hat USA, which was held this summer, I experienced once again how challenging the review of the submissions is. After all, every motivated security researcher aims to hold a presentation at the Black Hat at least once in her or his life, so the volume of submissions is very high and their contents are certainly ambitious. On the other hand, it is a great opportunity to see what the international security community is currently working on, which is my main motivation for doing it. Also, I get to engage with the most renowned security experts and cultivate my personal network and, in doing so, I bring added value to our department as well: for example, the most recent keynote speaker at the St. Pölten UAS’ own ITSECX conference was a former Black Hat speaker”, says Brandstetter.

Our demands on ourselves are high. This and many other findings flow into our lessons on an ongoing basis. Our students always receive the latest content and are always up to date.
