Semantics Conference 2025 in Vienna
Conference on the Role of Semantic Technologies in Artificial Intelligence
Since 2005, the renowned Semantics Conference has been dedicated to current developments in the areas of artificial intelligence, data management, and natural language processing. The focus of this year’s conference is on how semantic technologies and AI grow together for the purposes of factful and trusted AI.
The 21st edition of the European top event will take place in Vienna from 3 to 5 September 2025 – and once more.
The St. Pölten UAS is a partner in the leading specialist event
As a long-term partner, the Institute for Innovation Systems at the St. Pölten UAS’ Department Digital Business & Innovation is the co-organiser of the conference. It is represented by Tassilo Pellegrini and researcher Giray Havur.
Within the framework of the specialised conference, digital experts of the science, industry, and public realms meet to exchange their knowledge and views on trends and innovations. A comprehensive programme of keynotes, workshops, specialist lectures, and side events from science and industry awaits the participants.
“I am very pleased that the Semantics Conference 2025 takes place in Vienna once again, and that we – the St. Pölten UAS – get to contribute to this specialist event that features so many distinguished experts. This year’s focus is on the interface of large language models and knowledge graphs which have great potential for the quality assurance of AI-generated content and will become an important component of trustworthy AI systems in future”, explains Tassilo Pellegrini, co-head of the Institute for Innovation Systems at the St. Pölten UAS and co-founder of the Semantics Conference.
Another focus of the conference is on the use of semantic technologies for sustainability management and to support the transition towards a circular economy. Application areas such as the creation of digital twins, the digital product passport, and the management of ESG data (environment, social, governance) are at the centre of attention here.
Top-Class Keynote Speakers
The selection of keynote speakers highlights the topic’s relevance for science and industry:
- Georg Gottlob (University of Calabria): A renowned computer scientist and successful founder of several AI start-ups that have put semantics to productive use in the industry.
- Heng Ji (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign): A pioneer recognised worldwide for multimodal, multilingual information processing and knowledge-based large language models.
- Felix Sasaki (SAP): As Chief Expert at SAP, he designed practically oriented semantic solutions for companies all over the world.
- Michael Färber (ScaDS.AI, TU Dresden): The expert for explainable AI and semantic technologies promotes data-driven innovation in science using large language models and knowledge graphs.
