St. Pölten UAS Meets with Great Interest

Number of Applicants Grows Considerably

The St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences is experiencing a strong increase in applicants, especially for the technical study programmes (22% increase) and from the international environment (17% more). A rough total of 1,400 students are starting their first semester this autumn.

Growing Interest in Future-Oriented Study Programmes

The St. Pölten UAS is happy about this considerable increase in applications, particularly in the technical degree programmes. Thanks to the range of innovative and practically relevant programmes, prospect students find a diverse offer here that caters to the needs of our modern working world.

The demand is especially strong for the bachelor degree programme Data Science and Artificial Intelligence as well as for the English-taught programmes Creative Computing (bachelor) and Cyber Security and Resilience (master). When it comes to the technical study programmes, the demand is 22 percent higher than last year.

“The growing interest shows that our forward-looking study contents are very well received by the students. It is proof that we are on the right path”, says UAS CEO Johann Haag with enthusiasm. “By relying on innovative learning formats and teaching methods, we create room for individual further development and sustainable learning – for an education at the highest academic level.”

New Study Programmes Open up Perspectives for Students

Moreover, the St. Pölten UAS welcomes the first students to the new bachelor degree programmes Rail Vehicle Technology and Social Work in their respective dual form. With these programmes, the UAS responds explicitly to the latest developments in the labour market and to the growing demand for specialised professionals. Both programmes open up excellent career prospects in future-oriented fields of work for students.

Higher International Demand

More and more international students come to study in St. Pölten as well: Compared to last year, the number of international applications has increased by 17 percent at the UAS. Within the framework of its internationalisation strategy, the St. Pölten UAS extends its range of programmes taught in English and uses its cooperations with partner institutions in the European University Alliance E³UDRES² in which it has the lead. The international study programmes give students the possibility to work together in globally linked teams, pursue interdisciplinary approaches, and experience diverse cultural perspectives – all factors that deeply enrich the experience of studying and that considerably improve career prospects at the international level.

“This success attests to the high quality we are offering our students and confirms our position as a European University. In our role as leading institution of the European University Alliance E³UDRES², we set great store by designing curricula that are attractive for students from the regional, national, and international higher education areas”, emphasises UAS CEO Hannes Raffaseder.

Kick-off: Infos and Goodies

At the beginning of the semester, the approximately 1,400 first-semester students of the UAS received welcome packages from the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labour (AKNÖ) containing practical aids for everyday student life as well as information on important AK services.

The St. Pölten UAS and the AKNÖ have maintained a close collaboration for many years now. Through the initiative AK Young, adolescents and students specifically receive information on education and working.
The St. Pölten UAS is accepting applications for the winter semester 2026/27 from October 2025.
