Creative Code Lab 3 (WS 2024)

At the end of the winter semester 2024/25, the students had two weeks to apply what they had learned throughout the semester to the development of their own mobile apps. Working in teams of 2-3 students, they implemented their ideas as native Android applications using Kotlin. They refined their apps based on feedback from usability and user testing and finally presented their results at the end of the lab. Following this intensive effort, the students proudly showcased creative and functional apps. A selection of these projects is presented here, highlighting the skills acquired by the students.
Habit Tracker
Developed by Franz-Aurel Huber & Marcus Fichtinger
Habit Tracker was created to help users of any age keep track of a habit and either keep up those habits or possibly break bad ones in the long term. With this accessible app, users can add habits that they want to embed into their daily lives. They then can quickly check a habit they have done for that day as finished. Users can set reminders that motivate them to keep up their new habits.

HabiPet
Developed by Nikolaus Kaan & Mirjam McLachlan
HabiPet is a habit-building app that allows users to set and track personal habits by defining goals for daily or weekly completion. Consistently completing habits rewards users with in-app coins which they can spend in the shop to purchase animated pets, unique skins, and customisable backgrounds. These features aim to motivate users through positive reinforcement, gamification, and interactive rewards, thus turning habit-building into an engaging experience.

PixelPad
Developed by Niklas Reinsinger & Máté Bráder
PixelPad was created as a retro-themed note-taking app. The app is designed to be an assistant in users' everyday lives. Whether it's for shopping lists, reminders, or just writing down thoughts, users can decide for themselves what they want to use the notes for. They can create, edit, and delete notes. Additionally, users can assign one of 5 colours to their notes for categorising. Notes can also be sorted by colour, date of creation, and alphabetically.

Honorable Mentions
The applications created during CCL-3 were diverse, and many more would deserve recognition. A few examples include a chaotic password manager, an app to help control alcohol consumption, and a fun and challenging word game.
