SDG 4 High-Quality Education – For the Future
Article number 4 in the SDG series is dedicated to quality in teaching.
Education changes lives – and it forms the basis for a sustainable future. Understandably, the sustainability goal SDG 4 “Quality Education” plays a very important role at the St. Pölten UAS.
Beyond the acquisition of knowledge, we want our students to learn to assume responsibility, think critically, and become actively involved in shaping our society.
This is our contribution to an open and fair world that is viable for the future.
Training in Higher Education Didactics: Improving Teaching Quality
High-quality education demands committed teachers who give students the best possible support. With our further training in higher education didactics, we offer a tailored programme that educates lecturers in innovative methods, digitally assisted didactics, and heterogeneity-sensitive teaching. In this way, we make sure that teaching at the St. Pölten UAS is not only technically excellent, but also future-oriented and inclusive.
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as a Cross-Sectional Task
The St. Pölten UAS sees education as more than just the transfer of knowledge: It is our active contribution to tackling global challenges, which is why we implement ESD as a guiding principle in studying, continuing education, and research. Our students acquire not only specialist competencies but also critical thinking, creativity, and responsibility – skills that are indispensable for designing a sustainable society.
Our many teaching/research and corporate projects illustrate this commitment. And since diversity is of central importance for us, we have complemented the study programme-specific projects by formats that systematically promote interdisciplinarity for our local and international students (Interdisciplinary Lab – iLab and E³UDRES² Intensive I Living Lab).
Shaping the Future Together
High-quality education is a community project. Therefore, we collaborate with regional and international partners to open up diverse perspectives for students and promote sustainable innovations. In this way, we create spaces for learning and innovation where new ideas can grow, and global challenges are actively addressed.
About the SDG Topic Series
Within the framework of our SDG topic series, we dedicate ourselves to one of the 17 goals for sustainable development every week. The selected contributions serve as examples to illustrate how the St. Pölten UAS contributes to a sustainable future. In doing so, we highlight diverse issues – from poverty in old age to strategic partnerships and networks.
