"May the network be with you!"

In 2021, we still find ourselves in a challenging situation. For this reason, the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences has once again faced the difficulties and relocated the "karriere.netzwerk" to the World Wide Web.

True to the motto “May the network be with you”, we provided our students with a network of companies, workshops and lectures. Starting with virtual promotion stands of large or leading companies to regional companies that are considered pioneers in the fields of Digital Business, Digital Technologies, Media, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences.

The online career fair is supported, among others, by DER STANDARD as a media partner and by AK Niederösterreich / AK Young, REWE Group and WIENER STÄDTISCHE Versicherung AG.

There was a varied framework programme which accompanied the event. Our students were able to gather information about CV checks, personal branding and technology transfer, and get advice on labour law and education issues from the labour law experts of AK Niederösterreich. Prior to the career fair, two well-received workshops dedicated to “Salary Negotiations” and “Creativity and Innovation Management” took place.

The event was rounded off with a digital scavenger hunt around our virtual promotion stands. Participants were invited to solve a task or play a game at each stand. The main prize was a robot vacuum cleaner. In addition, many other students received smaller prizes in form of career packages filled with all kinds of goodies from the participating companies.

"Keep calm and connect"

This was the motto of “karriere.netzwerk goes virtual 2020”. Exceptional situations require flexibility, but also allow for new paths. In order to guarantee the safety of our students, teachers and cooperation partners, the karriere.netzwerk 2020 took place online.

The diverse online offer included recruiting slots with companies from various sectors. At the online consultation hour “AK Career Talk” of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labour, students received information about funding and could ask questions about labour law. Students of the study programme Smart Engineering had the opportunity to get to know seven different companies during online employer pitches. CV checks and tips on remote job interviews were offered by karriere.at. Lower Austria’s start-up agency riz up presented an interesting online seminar on the topic of “Avalanches in Slow Motion – These 12 Megatrends Are Changing Our World”. Additionally, participants also had the opportunity to have their job application photos edited or to get a quick “Body&Mood” boost.
